The following packages provide an assessment of sensory processing and motor skills, self-care and independence, play and academic skills. They are suited to families wishing to better understand their child’s needs, those seeking private therapy input and those applying for Education, Health and Care Plans.

Early Years: Below 2 years

A bespoke package comprising one to one assessment, observations in the child’s home environment and standardised questionnaires will be utilised to assess sensory processing and motor development in the young child.

Pre-School: Age 2-4 Years
2-hour assessment either at our studio or in your child’s nursery/pre-school at the discretion of the parents and therapist to evaluate:

  • Gross and fine motor skills
  • Drawing and pre-writing skills
  • Visual perception
  • Play and interaction skills
  • Self-care skills
  • Sensory processing

Developmental history and Activities of Daily living questionnaire
Sensory Processing Measure-Preschool (SPM-P) for home and nursery/pre-school

Primary School: Age 4-11 years

2-hour assessment at our studio to evaluate:

  • Gross and fine motor skills
  • Handwriting
  • Visual perception
  • Play and interaction skills
  • Self-care skills
  • Sensory processing

Developmental history and Activities of Daily living questionnaire
Sensory Processing Measure (SPM) for home and school

Secondary School: 12-16 years

2-hour assessment at our studio and discussions with the young person to evaluate:

  • Gross and fine motor skills
  • Independence skills
  • Play and interaction (including access to leisure activities)
  • Sensory Processing
  • Handwriting; motor coordination and visual motor skills

Adult/Adolescent sensory profile

College/School Leaver: 16-18 years

2-hour assessment at our studio and discussions with the young person to evaluate the skills underpinning the areas of function that are of most concern to the young person and their family.

Specialist Assessments:

The following packages are specific to the referral source or offer an increased level of insight.

Adoption Support Fund – Sensory and Attachment Assessment Package

This package covers all areas within our age-specific assessment package with the addition of analysing the child’s sensory-attachment behaviours including:

  • Levels of arousal related to sensory input and engagement with others
  • Survival strategies; fight, flight, freeze, dissociation.

In addition to the one to one assessment, there will be an observation of the child at home/school and telephone consultation with the family.

Funding for this package can be applied for via the Adoption Support Fund though is not guaranteed

Sensory Integration and Praxis Test (SIPT): Age 4 years to 8 years 11 months

A 2.5-hour assessment completed at our studio, in two parts with a short rest break part way through. The SIPT is a comprehensive assessment of Sensory Integration comprising 17 subtests that measure visual, tactile, vestibular and proprioceptive function as well as motor performance that can identify disorders of praxis (dyspraxia).

Down Syndrome Development Trust Associate Package

A screening package offered in conjunction with the Down Syndrome Development Trust for associates of the charity.

A 1-hour assessment at our studio and questionnaires for completion by parents and school staff. A report and OT programme to begin therapy input.
