Home and Education Support Visits

Adjusting the environment to support participation

It may be advised that the therapist visits your child either at home or at their school, nursery or college to provide targeted support for goals relating to these settings as part of a child’s therapeutic support package.

Session information:

  • A visit to an environment that a child/young person accesses to identify supporting factors and areas of need relevant to their goals.
  • Environments could include home, school, sports/activity clubs, swimming lessons, tutor sessions, shopping centres etc. – anywhere that the child/young person or their family would like to enhance their experience of.
  • The therapist will observe the child in the environment and talk with members of their support network (eg. teachers, teaching assistants, coaches, childminders, au pairs)
  • Advice will then be provided to the support network and child/young person.
  • Sessions typically last 1.5 hours (plus travel time).
