Curiosity and collaboration session

Curiosity and sharing of ideas to make daily tasks run more smoothly.

An opportunity to be curious about a child’s goal or particular daily activity that is challenging and explore this in collaboration with the therapist. The sessions emphasise thoughtful discussion to deepen understanding of why something may be happening as it is and explore opportunities for growth and change.

Session information:

  • Sessions last 45 minutes and can take place online via MSTeams or in our family room space at the studio.
  • A goal/activity that is most important to your family is chosen to explore.
  • The therapist will invite you to share what you already know and guide with questions to further understand why the activity may be challenging. Just understanding why something is happening is often a powerful step in making positive change.
  • The therapist and attendees will collaborate to find specific strategies and ideas to make the activity run more smoothly and with greater satisfaction for all. Consideration will be given to all elements of the guiding PEO model. Person (skills that could be enhanced), Occupation (changes that could be made to the activity) and the environment.
  • Attendees could be parents/guardians, siblings, extended family members and other regular caregivers.
  • A similar approach can also be used with teens and young people.

Environmental support visit

A visit to an environment that a child/young person accesses to identify supporting factors and areas of need relevant to their goals. Observation and liaison with the child and young persons support network.

Training and Workshops

Strengthening the support network through exploratory learning during small group workshop groups and larger training presentations.
