Resources, toolkits, home and school programmes designed to support you.

A therapy programme may be recommended either as the main form of support or to supplement a direct therapy programme.

OT Skills Programme

An Occupational Therapy skills programme will be related to a specific functional goal.

The programme will include:

  • Adaptive equipment ideas
  • Ways to adjust the way in which the occupation (activity) is carried out to facilitate success.
  • Activities that will help develop the skills required to make it easier to carry out the activity (eg. fine and gross motor skills, postural strength, coordination, visual perception)

The therapist will discuss the priorities with you and your child to decide on both the focus of the OT programme and agree on an effective way to implement it

Regulation Toolkit

A child’s regulation toolkit is prepared by a Live & Love it therapist in collaboration with a child/young person and the adults within their support network. It recognises that there are many factors that can support regulation or lead to dysregulation.

The kit draws on 6 steps to follow if a child/young person is experiencing dysregulation that impacts their participation in daily self-care, leisure or productivity activities.

The intention is that being in a regulated state will have a broad positive impact on a child/young persons participation and performance in a number of activities.

Group & OT paired sessions

Group and paired sessions are an opportunity for children to work on shared goals. Our child ambassadors requested that they attend sessions with children who “find the same things tricky as them” so that they could learn together and share ideas.

Equipment

Identifying equipment/gadgets to enable a child or young person to complete an activity in the most efficient and satisfying way.
