Group & Paired Sessions
Occupational Therapy group sessions for small groups or pairs of children who have shared goals they would like to work on.
Group and paired sessions are an opportunity for children to work on shared goals. Our child ambassadors requested that they attend sessions with children who “find the same things tricky as them” so that they could learn together and share ideas.
Session Information
- Children will be matched based on developmental stage, shared interests and shared goals.
- The sessions are neurodiversity affirming, they are facilitated by a therapist who will support the children to navigate any naturally occurring situations to enable a positive play experience.
- Verbal feedback will be provided at the end of each session.
- A written summary will be shared at the end of the block of sessions outlining the aims of the group, progress made, observations and suggested next steps.
- Some groups run as weekly after schools clubs, others as summer clubs and some can be offered as paired sessions in your usual therapy slot with another child joining for the period of time suitable for the content.
For Parents/Guardians
Our family room or the local cafe (just across the car park) are good places to catch up with families of other group session members during the session.
Mighty Movers
Challenge your gross motor and planning skills whilst avoiding the floor (its lava!), demonstrating your ninja warrior skills, or design your own creative challenges within the room. Children will lead the development of ideas, whilst therapists will ensure they are the just right challenge to develop sensory and motor skills whilst children just have fun!! Come away with strategies to help when you need to problem solve or come across a tricky motor task.

Mighty Makers
An opportunity for crafters and creators to get together and work on individual and/or group projects. Activities will pose a just right challenge to be great fun whilst also challenging and stretching children’s visual motor, fine motor skills and executive function skills.
Back to Nature OT
Come and join us for OT sessions in nature! Inspired by the regulating effects of the great outdoors and the natural challenges that the changing environment offers us! Sessions will be tailored to work on skills children want and need to work on including fine motor, visual motor, gross motor, planning and organisation and regulation.

Regulation Toolkit
Children who attend this club will:
Develop their own uniquely customised visual tool that they can use to share how they are feeling. Children will select colours, characters, words etc. that have meaning to them.
Explore the sensory, motor, learning (and other) experiences that may shift them into different arousal states (eg. sleepy, calm, alert, too fast, shutdown)
Identify the clues that their bodies give them, that tells them how they are feeling.
Explore strategies that help them to change their arousal state when they need to. For example, to be more alert or to be calmer.
Parents will attend a session following the block of sessions, where the therapist will share the process, the tools the children have developed, and how this can be incorporated at home and school.
Tabletop Role Playing Games
Calling all fans of sci-fi, fantasy, gaming, and nerd culture! Tabletop role playing games (TTRPG) are where board games meet gaming – create a character, decide what they’re good at doing and then follow a story with friends, overcoming obstacles and completing adventures together. Completely screen-free, and with a therapist game master to set the scene and help navigate decision-making.

Interoception
An 8-12 week programme designed to support the development of interoceptive awareness to aid the recognition of bodily (eg. hunger, thirst, full) and emotion (anxiety, anger, excitement) states. Children will participate in body experiments exploring language to describe how they feel and attribute these sensations to feelings. Depending on the needs of the group they may also begin to explore what are feel good sensations vs. those they want to change and try strategies to shift their arousal states. This group can be run at the studio or in schools.
Board Games Cafe
Keep in touch with the therapy team and unwind alongside other teens who may have similar sensory profiles or experiences of school to you. A range of board games and logic puzzles will be on offer. In session therapists will be on hand to discuss any worries or questions you may have. This session can be hosted in one of our therapy rooms the local café in the grounds of the Graylands estate at the preference of the teens.

Clothes Feel Yuck
This group is suitable for children who dislike the feel of clothing and would like to explore the options for sensory-friendly clothing as well as experiment with activities that can help their bodies to feel ready and comfortable before getting dressed in the morning.
To attend the group, the child MUST have clothes that they have SELF-CHOSEN that they want to be able to wear – it must be a self-identified goal that is important to them.
Sibling Sessions
Sessions for siblings; parents will be present in the session and will work collaboratively with the therapist within the safe therapeutic space! It may be appropriate on a case by case basis for two new siblings to
🤍Build harmony and cooperation
🤍Parent survival strategies; managing conflict, negotiating a truce and making amends.
🤍Reflect on negative habits and engrained patterns
🤍Have fun together!
🤍Shared understanding of each other’s super skills and things they find tricky
🤍Restoring regulation; spotting the point of no return before it happens
